The Art of Looking into the Future: The Five Principles of Technological Evolution

Reviews:"Consumerism will impel us toward a marvelous machine-made world, according to this ambitious treatise on economics and technological change. Amblee, a software engineer, spotlights a handful of simple economic principles that he feels will mold the shape of things to come. Chief among them are the eternal desire for cheaper, better, more convenient goods and services; the drive for globalization and automation; and the need for cheap energy, the lack of which he believes is the primary cause of recessions. Software linked to all-knowing financial databases will eliminate distortions in stock prices and bank lending, he contends, and thus forestall asset bubbles and end the business cycle. At restaurants, "dining tables will become digital, offering world information" that will enable us to work while we eat. Everything converges toward a future that offers "more quality, more precision" and "timelier service," one where the main jobs will be "robot design, robot assembly, software development for robots, and so on," and where "life will be so easy and comfortable you will wonder how people used to stand in long lines just to pay!"His forecasts are bold--living in "space cities," we will be impervious to global warming and asteroid impacts." - Kirkus Indie Review "This book helps us develop forward thinking capabilities and possible ways to predict the future of technology and other aspects of importance, leaving us with a sense of accomplishment." - David Hale, Ph.D., President, DHI-Communications "A refreshingly cogent and compelling treatment of problems and solutions for the 21st century, Amblee's book comes to grips as few others have with pending social, industrial, and financial realities. The volume is not merely a delineation of trends but an amazingly insightful blueprint for a brighter, more prosperous future." - Alan Beck, former Vice President for Publications, Tabor Communications Description:Looking into the future does not come naturally for most of us. In fact, it is hard enough for us to see past today! This book makes an effort to present a technique for looking into the future with real world examples. Together we will journey into a fascinating future and see our own life. As we travel together, we will notice all of the technological marvels of the future are inevitable because the human technological evolution is unstoppable. We will explore how human life will change and how future generations must be prepared to face it... And so begins The Art of Looking into the Future by R. S. Amblee, an intellectual powerhouse of ideas that introduces a forward-thinking school of thought. A provocative work of nonfiction that looks at how the world works in a whole new way, Amblee helps redefine what the future holds in such areas as healthcare, stock markets, real estate, education, outsourcing, global warming, and green initiatives. If his premise that the future rests in the ever-evolving arms of technology, then the future is bright--the future is very bright, indeed. Using a timeless, unchanged model of evolution, Amblee shows readers what to expect in the near future. Broken into four parts and over twenty chapters he illustrates in very specific terms how the world will increasingly depend on automation as well as globalization. A natural progression, Amblee describes how such evolution is often hidden in the rigors of daily life. As humans logically continue to develop, there's a pattern; the genius of Amblee's work is that he identifies it. He makes no blind assumptions in his a priori assessments, which are notably hopeful, of what the future will hold, and that these guiding principles of evolution will reveal solutions for challenges in most sectors. From such an evolutionary bird's eye view, man's survival is, if not imminent, secure..

The Art of Looking into the Future: The Five Principles of Technological Evolution
Review by Samuel Bowden : The More You Know about the Future, The More You Can React and be Proactive 5 Star

I found The Art of Looking Into the Future: The Five Principles of Technological Evolution a fantastic read and extremely eye-opening in how R. S. Amblee (the author) formulated the premises. To most of us, the future is open-ended, a world that awaits us that would astound us if we could just peek into it. For example, just 15 years ago nobody thought the Internet would be as huge as it is - now, we all carry around the World Wide Web on little cell phones and watch movies that we download to it!

Amblee explores some of the foundations of looking at future technology as well as some of the reasons people can't or won't do so willingly. In addition, Amblee explores the reasons why knowing as much about the future as we can now helps us maneuver in today's world better and more accurately. Business owners can react and be pro-active for the future if they have a better idea of what is in front of them. They stand a better chance of doing more business when they have a better idea of what lies ahead and they can help control costs so as not to go off on tangents that have little chance of being important.

Governments also can react and respond and plan better when they have an idea of the future technologies they will be able to leverage. Lives can be saved with appropriate planning and resources can be kept from being wasted as they might otherwise be without any prior knowledge of what lies in front of us.

The Art of Looking into the Future is a jam-packed book that weighs in at 20 chapters, offering glimpses into several industries including the food, agricultural, housing, transportation, and more. From looking at your own personal role that technology is going to improve to looking at the macro "big picture," this book is the Megatrends of our time, a fantastic look at future technology that simply will change our world in so many ways.

The Art of Looking into the Future: The Five Principles of Technological Evolution
Review by Shakespeare : A Thought Inspiring, Must-Read! The Art Of Looking Into the Future by R. S. Amblee 5 Star

The Art of Looking Into The Future by R. S. Ramblee is a very insightful and thought-provoking book on our world and where we can possibly take it with the introduction of outsourcing, automation, and technology, into our businesses, schools, healthcare, banking and more. This layperson, myself, sees great benefits in his ideas of steering our world into a more global frame of mind as the solution to the present crisis that countries are experiencing. His five principles of technological evolution for the world are amazingly simplistic, but hold the possibility of huge benefits for the entire world. The reader will find that Mr. Amblee's very well-researched book shows the possibilities for the world at large to become a more productive environment for ourselves and our children. If you're a politician, business owner, school teacher, banker, health care provider or are involved in computer technology, these are only a few of the areas in our walk-of-life that could benefit from reading and absorbing the futuristic theories that Mr. Amblee puts forth for consideration on how we can really make, not our country, but our world a much more happier and profitable place. This twenty chapter book touches upon all walks of our life and is really inspiring in it's theories of how we can make not only the well-developed countries of the world better economically; but the under-developed countries as well. The simplicity of the ideas is astounding, in that if utilized we could be that much closer to seeing their benefits. It will have readers questioning why these ideas haven't been previously investigated by those steering the rudders of our countries in our quest back to economic health.Mr. Amblee puts forth his fundamental ideas of how introducing more technology and automation into our current business world, outsourcing, and really making an effort to reform our energy consumption needs in a global way, can not only help us; but the world as a whole. It is amazing in its simplicity, the circular solution. His novel ideas can not only help out a starving country, when well-developed countries outsource jobs and technology for education to them, but well-developed countries will benefit too. As these under developed countries will now have money to pay for products from well-developed countries. Products that have been made cheaper by outsourcing some jobs related to their making and automating others. Then in turn these under developed countries can lower crime and school their children with his theories. His theories on health care are phenomenal too. Again, simply introducing more technology and automation within the health care field are theorized to lower health care costs to one and all. If Mr. Amblee's theories on only these well-publicized issues aren't enough, then read on as he puts forth many more futuristic views on how other issues can easily be fixed by steering towards more technology and automation in our day-to-day business life. This book is brilliant and a must-read for all!
